When I originally conceived of the SideBar, I thought I would use it for posting newsbits and other ephermera. However, I think that Twitter really works better at this for me in sharing links and stuff. Follow me on Twitter for the latest conversations!
The SideBar will continue to have posts that are off the beaten path. The main site will contain updates to it. Ciao!

Being Gay Is For The Birds
Via Pink News:
A study has found that zebra finches can form lifelong same-sex relationships.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, chose the species to study because zebra finches are known for forming permanent monogamous relationships.
They found that when the birds were raised in same-sex groups, over half of the males formed same-sex couples. Even when females were introduced to the group, five out of the eight male couples ignored them and continued their relationships.
Researchers also found that the same-sex couples showed the same behaviour to each other as opposite-sex couples did, including nesting together, singing to each other, perching side by side and greeting each other.
Lead researcher Julie Elie told BBC Nature: “The research showed relationships in animals can be more complicated than just a male and a female who meet and reproduce, even in birds.
“A pair-bond in socially monogamous species represents a cooperative partnership that may give advantages for survival.
“Finding a social partner, whatever its sex, could be a priority.”
Sex and The City: Back on TV?
Sex And The City is to return to our TV screens after producers met in Hollywood last week to discuss the new show.
‘Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in,’ says my LA mole.
‘Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.

Adam Levine: I Wouldn't Be Doing My Job If People Didn't Think I Was Gay
Adam speaks up in Out Magazine:
Read the full article and yummy pics from Out Magazine.
“There’s no way to hide my straightness,” he says, “but if people didn’t think there was a small chance I was gay, then I wouldn’t be doing my job very well. Look at the best ones, guys whose sexuality was always questioned. Bowie. Jagger. Freddie Mercury. I wouldn’t be the front man of a band if that question hadn’t come up at some point.”
Levine, 32, grew up in a liberal Los Angeles home -- his parents both went to Berkeley -- but it wasn’t his own sexuality that defined his open-minded beliefs. It was his younger brother’s. “I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired,” he says, laughing. “Trust me, you’re born with it. My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all knew.”
Instead of a family freak-out, the Levines doubled down. “We all really wanted to provide some cushion for him and constantly let him know that it’s OK,” Levine says. “A lot of people don’t want their kid to be gay and will fight it at all costs. But I’ve got news for you—it’s a losing fucking battle. The more you fight it, the more fucked-up your kid’s gonna be. You’ve just gotta embrace it from the beginning. That’s the only way to deal with it as a family. Otherwise, you’re just screwing yourself over, and you’re gonna make your kid miserable.”
