Tyler Clementi suicide case defendant wants charges dismissed

Dharun Ravi, 19, of Plainsboro, New Jersey, is accused of invasion of privacy and bias intimidation in the case of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who jumped to his death last September after believing his sex session with another man had been secretly filmed.

Clementi, 18, was not out. The talented violinist’s death sparked a national conversation about homophobic bullying and LGBT teen suicides.

Ravi, who is pleading not guilty to the charges, is accused of setting up a webcam in their shared room and broadcasting the scenes.

Prosecutors say he filmed Clementi because the latter was gay. Ravi faces jail if convicted of bias intimidation.

His attorney Steve Altman says there is no evidence of any bullying or homophobic bias, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reports.

Mr Altman is seeking to have the charges dismissed and says the prosecution must allow evidence which includes documents from Clementi’s computer and a note found in his dorm room.

Another student who allegedly viewed the footage, Molly Wei, 19, of West Windsor, is expected to testify against Mr Ravi as part of a plea deal.

Teen Mom Suicide Attempt

Booooring. Seriously? Who cares about these bizitches? Also, not to minimize suicides, but this sounds fake and a stunt.

Amber Portwood, one of the mothers who shot to fame overnight on MTV's hit reality show "Teen Mom," was taken to an Indiana hospital after an apparent suicide attempt.

According to police in Anderson, Ind., Portwood was hospitalized Tuesday morning after threatening to take her life. She'd reportedly fought on the phone with her baby daddy.

The report comes just a week after Portwood plead guilty to domestic violence charges, after slapping and punching her ex-fiance Gary Shirley, and lost custody of her 2-year-old daughter Leah.

Star Magazine reports that Portwood admitted to taking pills on Tuesday, and when paramedics arrived they found her drifting in and out of consciousness. The magazine also reported that rescuers removed a rope from around her neck.

On the back of this study, Rekers built a career as an anti-gay activist and a supposed expert in childhood sexual development. He co-founded the Family Research Council and championed reparative therapy to turn gay men straight. In 2003, Kirk, aged 38 years old and gay, committed suicide."
